[...] Well, it turns out that someone realized that the concept of the Philosopher Cafe could be applied now as a Climate Cafe, so via Stephen Rees, I found out about the Climate Cafe that will take place on May 20th at Bean Around the World on Main and almost Broadway. Living Car Free is the theme of this month’s Climate Cafe. [...]

Sounds like a great time!

This late-December-holiday I installed a low flow toilet at my mom's place. I'm not an expert on how they work, but they do and they do work well.

I often think of how to ruralize my new metropolitan home. Last summer I gardened on my deck, mostly herbs and salady things. This year I'm ready for tomatoes and some more ambitious stuff, but for the life of me I can't convince my strata council that chickens are a cool thing to keep on the 4th floor...

Hi - I read about this site from the latest relocalization e-newsletter. My wife and I bought no presents or cards for this Christmas. We did get in the car and drive to everyone's house to spend time with people. And the week before we did do a dinner party and invited a few close friends we wouldn't be seeing over Christmas and new years.

However this year I want to be more organised. A bigger "lunch-dinner-drop-in-day" made with as much local foods as possible. It is Summer here in Australia so not some much baking. And a lot more finger food and fruits. Plus home brew beer and local wine ;-)

But for presents I would like to either make or buy locally made recycled paper cards and do up little coupons for people. Which would be things like cooking their favourite meal. Taking them to the beach or maybe even babysitting while they go out for dinner. Rather than a thing they have to find space for or to keep clean and feel bad about getting rid of at a garage sale in a few years. Spend some time with them or give them some time to do their own thing.
